LCN: Hi Tasha, Welcome to Le Creme Nation. How are you?
TASHA: Well, thank you
LCN: When Le Creme Nation interview you Tasha you have to come 100; are you ready?
TASHA: (smiles)
LCN: Just for the people here who maybe unfamiliar with you and your work, let the people know. Who is Tasha Ford?
TASHA: I am a native of Upstate New York. I live in the South Florida Area. I'm seen in Dorrough "Get Big" Remix video, Red Cafe's "Money Money Money" and "Hottest In The Hood". You can also check me out in Likeblood ft Bobby V "Getting Money Over Here" and Flo Rida "Touch Me."
LCN: When did you first dream of working the entertainment industry?
TASHA: Well, it really wasn't in my dreams. I was working and had to enter a contest to meet these models for a project I was working on for the company I worked for at the time, Allied Domeq Wines & Spirits.
LCN: So what happened?
TASHA: After I got through the process and selected my girls for the "Fonzworth Bentley CV Ultimate Gentlemen's Tour" I figured my work there was done. About 10 or so days later I received a letter in the mail from the magazine saying that I was one of the 25 finalist. The contest is conducted all in one day these days. I laughed and I was pleased. I said there was no way I was going compete in front of people half naked.
LCN: Damn, that must have been somewhat intimidating at that point, how did you manage through that?
TASHA: One of the account's principles, Foot, told me to stick with it. He said if you could be a fly on the wall and hear what was discussed about you I would. At the time I had struggled so much with being so skinny. I was the skinniest person in my family and was constantly teased growing up. Well, you know the rest from here...I went all the way and here I am before you now just loving and enjoying this whole new world.
LCN: Yes, without a doubt, beautiful than ever might I add. So, did you come into the modeling industry expecting to be a video vixen or dream of hitting the runway like most girls?
TASHA: I am far from a Video Vixen. I consider myself a Pin-up Beauty. (Smiles) Well, I really wanted to act at that point. I didn't even know that video girls were considered models. I started doing my research because I wanted to be the best I could at it.
LCN: You know what Tasha, that's interesting because many girls interested in modeling fail to research others in their profession and basically come into the industry just looking for one moment of shine and leave it at that. Who or what did you study while persuing your career?
TASHA: I studied that side of the industries greats (at the time) like Tomika Skanes, Sincerely Ward and other girls I felt were just beautiful and possessed the classier side of urban modeling. I really didn't see an in for me as I got more acquainted with the industry that I had entered. I didn't feel I was tall enough to go high fashion, so I was a little unsure of my future in this.
LCN: How was your experience working with artists such as Flo Rida and Red Cafe?
TASHA: All the artist that I have been fortunate to work with have all been amazing and very respectful. Red is so down to earth and makes you feel at ease. I'm a fellow New Yorker, so working with Red and Fabolous was a treat. I was in awe with their presence and guess the feeling of being star struck, I don't know, but I played it cool, because that's what I do, I'm cool…(laughs) I don't know, it was strange, you see these faces on your cd covers, in the magazines you read, and on the stations you listen to and are like wow, that's him. I shut down, stay to myself when the artist show up, but I am very personable to the talent...and those are the ones you should probably get quiet around...(laughs)
LCN: (Laughs) I can’t believe you were star struck… But at least you’re honest about it, most females would deny it instantly like it’s whatever. How was it working with Flo?
TASHA: Flo Rida was not what I had expected. I thought he was going to be shorter, but he was so tall and masculine, so that was hot. Most importantly, even though I never spoke to Flo Rida on set, I could feel this energy from him that says he's a lot deeper than what he raps about.
LCN: What other artist have you worked with outside of those two?
TASHA: Most recently I got the opportunity to work with 50 Cent. I consider working with a "Great" such as 50, an opportunity. That was awesome. I have always wanted to work with him Kanye West, Diddy, Red Cafe, Fabolous, Lloyd Banks, Maino, Cassidy, Jada Kiss, Rick Rozay, Common, Trey Songz, Rihanna, Baby, Lil Wayne & Drake. Being able to work with and indirectly with 9 out of 16 (artists) isn't quite bad. When I look at videos 50 Cent has produced, he always has a stellar actress, singer, or model that goes very far as a result of being in his videos. Working with 50 was goal numero uno. When I think about a video role these days, I think about who did what and where are they today. So working with someone like 50 Cent right after I did the Dorrough "Get Big" video, which was a huge production, I feel like I am on the path to stardom.
LCN: That’s excellent, what projects do you enjoy the most behind the camera. Videos or photo shoots?
TASHA: I like being behind the camera period. If the person operating the camera is on my check list of work-withs, then I'm pumped. My mom doesn't like the videos. Every time I tell her that I've been asked to do one (a video) and she sees the expense to me, it pisses her off and then she causes me to second guess if I should do it. When you pass a project up you always have that thought of "what if".
LCN: Well have you ever had some bad experiences with any directors?
TASHA: Nope. People are going to come on to you when you are pleasing to the eye. How you carry yourself as a lady determines the outcome.
LCN: Have you ever been hit on by any casting directors or celebs?
TASHA: Seldomly. People on set, for the most part, are very professional. I carry myself professional and I'm treated like a professional. Have I been come on to and then felt like, because I turned him down will he not work with me? Yes. I have.
LCN: Damn, really?
TASHA: Yes, but in hindsight I'm like who cares. If that person is known for that, then my talent is discounted and I don't need that untrue stain on my career. What God has for me, no man can take from me. I've worked with professionals. I've never had an artist come at me sideways. I use to hear about that kind of stuff, but I've never witnessed it.
LCN: So outside of the videos, would you consider acting?
TASHA: I am an actress and that is where by career is heading (smiles)
LCN: What upcoming film projects do you have in development for 2011?
TASHA: I will be in episode 15 of the hit series Burn Notice seen on the USA network. You can also catch me in the VH1s upcoming reality show "Beverly Hills Fabulous" in the hair show episode that was filmed here in Miami. Also, Elgin Charles Inc is the only black owned salon in Beverly Hills. I wished I lived there, because I need that salon in my life.
LCN: Well at the rate you’re going Beverly Hills is a mile closer to Hollywood…So are you single or taken?
TASHA: SINGLELCN: Well, with that in mind, would you consider dating a celebrity or have you?
TASHA: I've dated a team celebrity, if you want to call that celebrity and we have an amazing child together. I don't think I would ever do that again.
LCN: Really, why not?
TASHA: Those bitter girls that want those kinds of men create lies and ugly fantasies about you that you have to battle. These types of women creates these usernames and hide behind them to damage your image. What I went through as a result of the good time I was having in that relationship, was not worth the bad times...I avoid dating industry at all cost. That's how you end up on message boards sooner than later.
LCN: In general, how has the industry been treating you? Do you feel like you’re given the respect you deserve from the photographers, video directors, crew and whomever else?
TASHA: Once someone gets to know me, they love me. However, I feel like most people think because you are nice that you don't know your value to this industry or to yourself. I have always known my value. I like that sometimes, because I never let those people get to close to me. I wont allow it. Also, it's a clear indication of how they view life and how happy they are. I want happy loving people around me, not fake people that only like you when you're up. When you are super kind, you can see what type of person you are dealing with quicker. The key is not letting them know you know, so their stripes don't change and then you get fooled and have to figure them out all over again. Keeping people in perspective is key in this industry and you will be respected by those that respect your hustle and work ethic, and less hurt by those that don't.
LCN: I agree. Well, what advice would you give anyone who's interested in stepping into the modeling and entertainment industry?
TASHA: Build some thick skin.
LCN: Well said because you got to be tough to go through tough situations and criticism within the industry. If you had to say anything you wanted to at this moment, what would it be?
TASHA: When you fall, get back up stronger, and, it's not how you got there, it's what you do once you get there. Also, if anyone thinks that I got here on my own, that is so far from the truth. It takes friends, photographers, stylist, MUA, and agents. I think a model should have just as many agents as agents have talent to get a diverse list of credits on your resume. Different agents specialize in different things and others are stronger in some areas than others. Be proactive in creating your destiny
LCN: If you could have your way right now, what would you do?
TASHA: I would tour the South of France and create some memories with my family, because I can't go alone.
LCN: What's the biggest misconception about Tasha Ford ?
TASHA: That I'm snooty, high maintenance, or that I am use to being spoiled by man.
LCN: What would you say has been your greatest accomplishment thus far?
TASHA: ....hmmm....I would say getting that first Sag voucher.
LCN: (Laughs) SAG Voucher?
TASHA: That may sound silly, but I have this list of goals and when I check one off, I'm over joyed with happiness. I get this little devilish grin and giggle to go with it too.…(Naughty laugh)LCN: Okay, I see (laugh) Well thanks for talking with us Tasha and supporting Le Creme. Much love to you and we wish you the best. Continue to stay beautiful inside and definitely out.
TASHA: No, thank you.
LCN: Any shout outs before we go?
TASHA: I want to shout out Edwin Decena & Devin Hampton.
